What fun, I looooove surprises.
I met him Friday, around 4pm, at a hotel about 40 minutes south of our house (he was coming from work). I parked my car and loaded my three bags (I didn't know where we were going, so I packed everything I own) into his car and hit the road. About an hour and a half later we were at the Atwood Lake Resort.
It was beautiful down there. With Fall in full swing, 70+ degree weather and so much sunshine you can hardly believe it is Ohio it was the perfect weekend for us.
We stayed in the lodge and had a glorious view of the lake. The lake that I didn't know even existed until Friday afternoon- I mean this lake is pretty damn big and I had no idea it was down there. Dan knew of this gem in middle Ohio because he had his bachelor party here.
Friday was filled with mommy and daddy alone time, dinner and a movie (in our room of course). Side note: Iron Man was a much better flick then I wanted to give it credit for.
Saturday we woke up, ate breakfast, came back to the room to take the first of two naps of the day, then around 11am woke up again and headed to the lake. We rented a boat and cruised around on the water for a few hours. Ahhh. Peace and quiet.
After that we went on a 5 mile (ish) hike that I graded as a D+. It was challenging because it was so hilly, but only the first part of the hike was in a thick wooded area. The rest of it was more open space which is ok, but we both prefer woodsy hikes.
After that we came back to the room and took our second and last nap of the day. I didn't even know what to do with my nap taking freedom. I was unsure of how to function on normal amounts of sleep and being well rested.
Saturday night I got a massage around 7pm, then we both headed to the bar for some wings and beer. Next morning we woke up, ate and headed home, both missing our little girl.
And, speaking of the little girl.... She spent the weekend with my wonderful parents. They offered to take for two nights so that we could go away for our anniversary. I missed Melly terribly, but it was good for both Dan and I to get some time away.
Last night was our first night back from our trip and I was worried the little one wouldn't sleep well since she taken out of her comfort zone and routine while we were gone. Boy was I wrong. She was exhausted from her action packed weekend and went to bed at 9pm and slept until 6am. I mean, shit, are you kidding me? Then she stayed up for about an hour to play, eat and smile- only to fall back asleep until 9:15am.
Wh- Wh- What?!? Where did this 9 hours of sleeping come from?
Fingers crossed she does it again tonight!

My kid sleeps like a GEM at his grandparent's house - never at home, but at their house, he's a treat!
Sounds like a great weekend!
